What is Focus?
Focus, to me, is the most important word as it regards to ‘self’. No matter what you focus on, consciously or subconsciously, you will become efficient/good at performing. Now, this doesn’t matter if the behavior is healthy or unhealthy, productive or unproductive.
You may continually sit on your ass, focused on (albeit not realizing you’re doing so but, it is your choice) you are tired, not feeling well and how things aren’t going your way or you can be focused on how to feel better, how to improve the situation(s) and to be thankful for what you do have.
What We Focus On Improves
Anything we focus on, we can improve. Again, this goes both ways. If you eat nothing but junk food and drink alcohol, you are improving on getting fatter and less healthy. If you focus on playing the guitar or introducing exercise and eating nutrient dense food, you will improve on this as well.
So, what to do? Well, you have to ‘decide’. Deciding what you truly want. Making the decision to focus on something which will truly make you happy and healthy. Choose things to focus on which will make you as happy as a child on their birthday or holiday in which they receive an awesome gift. I remember how I felt after I participated in my last bodybuilding show. After almost a year of training, the reward was overwhelming. I did feel like a kid at Christmas!
Now, I’m not saying necessarily go out and compete in a competition but, just changing your focus on positive and healthy options. Choosing to focus on these things is your decision and your decision alone. Although, there are times it won’t be easy. I never said it would be easy but, the more you do it the easier it will become. Then when you are faced with terribly difficult situations, you can handle much better.
